The tycoon who is credited with saving the club from financial ruin was unable to attend a home match on the 20th anniversary of his takeover.

It transpires that he was called as a witness to a court case and was also recovering from an operation.

Mr McCann is entering a new phase in his life after an amicable split from his wife Elspeth.

He is also diverting his energies to his charitable foundation which has an office in Boston.
