Annan 10

Lenzie 19

Lenzie travelled to Annan on Saturday through the snow and were delighted to be met by a very playable park and good weather.

This was a must win game for both sides who were too close to the bottom of the league for either club’s liking.

From the start Lenzie put Annan under pressure and were dominating possession however no scores came in the first 15 minutes despite Sutherland, Slade and McWilliams coming close. Some rare Annan possession led to a breakout and McCann released Jamieson who made 40 metres up the right wing before being stopped by Baldman. From the ruck McCann put Callaghan in space who went in under the posts to enable the conversion for Annan to go in front 7-0.

Lenzie again regained territorial advantage and despite Patterson running the game from scrum half they did not manage to make any impact on the scoreboard before the interval.

Coach Breckinridge encouraged his charges to reduce individual mistakes and retain composure for the second period and Lenzie again took the game to Annan from the outset and were quickly rewarded when some great team play put McWilliams clear who put Morrison under the posts for a welcome score which was converted by Scouller.

Annan were quick to respond and gained a penalty from the kick off which was converted by McCann to put Annan back in the lead 10-7. The game went through a short spell where neither Team looked like scoring before Lenzie gained control through their forwards where Williams, Letford, Wood and Scouller were now dominating.
