Martin Lauchlan’s side are leading the way in the Central First Division while Lanark are five points clear at the top of the Second Division standings.

And while ‘Vale, whose West of Scotland Cup tie at Cumnock on Saturday was called off, go into the game as favourites, manager Lauchlan is making sure his players take nothing for granted.

He said: “We played in that division last season so we know what to expect.

“They are a very good side who are scoring goals and playing with confidence so I’m expecting a difficult game.

“They have a mixture of youth and experience but the most important thing for us is that we go into the match being positive and approach it in the correct manner rather than thinking it’s going to be easy.

“We’re not a team who can sit back anyway; going forward is our strength.

“We’re looking forward to it because it’s important to have a good cup run. It can help the club financially but it can also give the players a break from the league.”
