Duffy heartened by Clyde win

Duffy led his team to Annan’s home of Galabank on Saturday where a John Sweeney penalty put the visitors 1-0 up.

Clyde had to weather a counterattacking storm to secure the three vital points which lifted them off the bottom of the Third Division at the expense of East Stirling.

Jim told the News and Chronicle: “This was a match with a lot of positives for us and things we can build on. It’s a win we deserved but it was far from easy.

“The pitch at Galabank is quite sloped and after half time Annan were shooting downhill, so got quite a lot of shots into our box area and we had to defend well to get away with a clean sheet and a win.

“The three points lifts us off the bottom of the table which is obviously a nice bonus.”

But Jim is mindful of Elgin’s attacking potential and knows his men will need to build on Saturday’s performance to get a winning streak going in another away game against potentially tough opposition.

Clyde, however, have boosted their defence this week by signing Callum Fordyce from Livingston until the end of April. The 20-year-old is a product of the Lions Youth Academy and he has featured in nearly 30 games. Clyde will play Elgin on Saturday at Borough Briggs. Kick off is 3pm.
