Braidhom Sevens returns for its fifth year and once again welcomes an eclectic mix of clubs and invitational teams who will bid for the crown and cash prize.

The event has also added an U18 tournament which takes place on Friday night from 6pm, before the seniors take to the field on Saturday morning from 11am.

“The Braidholm Sevens has grown year on year as a fun family event, and this year we decided to start things early with a Friday night tournament for the U18s,” said organiser Rangi Jericevich.

“This will include teams from GHA, St Aloysius College, Hamilton, Whitecraigs, Cartha, Dalziel, Dunfermline and Ayr.

“The popularity of sevens continues to grow but there are only a limited amount of tournaments for U18s to play in so we decided to launch an U18s tournament to help fill this void.

“Our main tournament is made up primarily of invitational teams — which always makes the draw a lottery and adds to the excitement.”

Among the participants are hosts GHA, the Seven Purple Ninja Twins from County Durham, Glasgow University and invitational side the Westend Cowboys.

Last years runners up and 2012 champions the Minerva Builders — featuring players from Premiership sides Ayr and Glasgow Hawks — also return.
