Postal 0

Though the scoreline may suggest otherwise, the three league points did not come easy for Harestanes.

Postal had some good players and were prepared to fight for every ball. The tackling, from both sides, could not be described as ‘pretty’ - more hard and ruthless.

Harestanes started in a low-key mode although they could have taken an early lead had Cawley’s shot been on target rather than over the bar.

Craig Young then came close with a low shot that was going in at the post until Postal’s excellent keeper turned it wide.

A free-kick from Fitzsimmons looked on target but was deflected over.

That was the best of a fairly flat first half with neither side achieving any dominance.

In the second half Harestanes upped the pace and took over the match.

Postal continued to plug away refusing to give the Hares an easy time.

Within nine minutes Hares took the lead. Oliver sent the ball across to McClure, he played on for Marshall who galloped forward, cut into the box and, from the by-line, sent the ball in for McLaughlin to flick in at the near post.

There was luck attached to the second goal. Cawley sent a corner into the crowded box. It was difficult to see what happened, but McLaughlin managed to get a touch to force it home.

Craig Young stole the third when he robbed one of the Postal players, cut into the box, rounded the keeper and placed the ball into the right corner.

The fourth came when Oliver collected the ball on the edge of the box. His unstoppable shot was heading in but got a slight deflection.

Near the end Cal Young made it five with a low shot under the keeper.

A deserved if hard fought victory for Harestanes.
