Five Clydesdale golfers compete in Children's Games

FIVE Clydesdale youngsters have been selected in the provisional golf squad of 14 looking to strike gold at the Lanarkshire 2011 International Children's Games.

Players in the running to be teeing off at Hamilton Golf Club next August are: Law's Graeme Greer (Carluke GC); Carluke pair Stephen Kelly (Carluke GC) and David Cleland (Hamilton GC); Boghead's Stuart Fulton (Hollandbush GC) and Andrew Thomson of Carnwath (Mouse Valley GC).

Colin Girvan, director of golf at Lanarkshire 2011, said: "The squad coaches, PGA professionals Derek Wright and Peter Kerr, selected the provisional ICG squad based on how the players have progressed over the past couple of years.

"We have a strong team of golfers going for medals in August."

The squad gathered for its first session on October 10 at Hamilton Golf Club with squad coach and PGA professional John Mulgrew.
