The weekend highlights saw the clubs U16’s put on an impressive performance to record a 1-0 win at Ravenswwod against Syngenta Juveniles to reach the CKDYL League Cup final. The U15’s progressed to the semi-final stages of their equivalent League Cup with a solid win away at Gartcain.

Both U13 sides got their league campaigns off to a winning start with wins as did the club’s other U16’s side. The club’s girls were both a little unlucky not to take anything from their games, with the club’s Senior Ladies team’s game called off due to the weather away at Dunfermline.

The club’s Caledonian League side recorded back to back league wins on Saturday thanks to an impressive second half display to over run their opponents Weir Recreation.

Leading 2-1 at half-time thanks to goals from David Rutherford and Gavin Macpherson the Colts raised their game in the second half to out run the home side.

The Colts extended their lead early in the second half when Dalan Goktepe turned the ball past the keeper from close range following a free kick. Colts were well in control at this point and it was disappointing when defensive slackness let Weirs back into the game to pull it back to 2-3.

This wake-up was all the Colts needed to go back on the offensive as they peppered the home goal. It was only a matter of time before they extended their lead when Dalan Goktepe was on hand again following a set-piece to notch up his second and Colts fourth.

A further two goals by McWilliams followed the pick of the games being his second and the Colts sixth, when he cut in from the left and touchline to fire an unstoppable drive from 25 yards high past the helpless keeper. The young colts are now finding their feet in this prestigious league and look forward to the rest of the season.
