Rangers opened their pre-season friendly fixture programme on Saturday with a game at home against top amateur side, Shotts Victoria.

It was a line up with more than a few unfamiliar faces following the big clearout by new manager, Keith Hogg.

Several retained players were also missing though with Phil Dolan playing in a representative game in Liverpool and David Waters on holiday.

The vistors opened well and showed they would be no pushover.

Rangers began to dominate the game and took the lead after about half an hour when Chris Reid headed in from a corner. There was still just the one goal in it at half-time, a fair reflection of the first 45 minutes.
