Barrhill winning at the double

Barrhill played host to Stenhousemuir last Wednesday night knowing that it would be a tough game.

With Hopkins and McPherson missing due to work and injury, in stepped G. Johnson and Byrne.

It was a great start by Barrhill who were closing down everywhere, much to the annoyance of Stenhousemuir who wanted time on the ball.

The tactics paid off and Byrne broke free to race down the wing, firing in a cross that Black got on the end of to fire home.

The second half saw Barrhill sitting back and defending their one-goal lead.

Goalkeeper Stevenson had a brilliant game with save after save to ensure that the home side took the three points and he was awarded the MoM award.

Barrhill went into this game off a brilliant midweek result looking for full points again.

And although the performance was not as good the local side came away with the points.

Inside the first three minutes McLean played a brilliant ball for Byrne who was pulled down, but Divine missed the resultling free-kick.

The Twechar-based side went one up through an own goal. Divine a great cross in for G. Johnson to get on to but the Dunblane defender got there first and put the ball into his own net.

Barrhill’s second goal came from Divine who, having made a great run into the box, was brought down, and the same player fired home from the penalty spot.

The second half was very scrappy from both teams, but Barrhill had the better chances, which included Byrne forcing the Dunblane keeper to bring off a great save with his feet.

I. Johnson got the final goal to seal the game when he headered a Divine corner-kick into the back of the net.
