The top 10 most valuable Scottish Premiership players as Celtic dominate Rangers with £11m stars leading list
Brendan Rodgers’ seemingly has millions of pounds worth of sellable talent in his ranks according to a popular football statistics website.
Celtic and Rangers are both back in Scottish Premiership action today as the Hoops look to move back to the top of the league table and Philippe Clement’s men aim to close the gap on the top two.
The Hoops will head to Fir Park to take on Motherwell while St Mirren are the visitors to Ibrox. Both sides are looking for wins especially after high flying Aberdeen’s 1-0 win at home to Dundee United yesterday saw them move to the top of the league table.
With the clocks going back last night we are now moving closer to winter and closer to the January transfer window which will provide an opportunity for both clubs to add to their ranks. Equally as important will be keeping hold of their star players but, if they did decide to cash in, it looks as if Celtic are the side who have the most valuable assets.
According to the hugely popular football statistics site TransferMarkt, nine of the top ten most valuable players in the Scottish Premiership are Celtic stars with just one Rangers man rounding off the top 10 in tenth place. Celtic’s two most valuable players rank at €13 million (roughly £11 million) but, perhaps surprisingly, neither are record summer signing Arne Engles.
As for Rangers, their most valuable player comes in at almost half of the Celtic MVP at €7 million although that figure still dwarfs any other outside of the two Glasgow giants. Seven of the players ranked 11th to 20th are Rangers stars with three Celtic men filling that section and Hearts’ skipper Lawrence Shankland still the most valuable non-Old Firm star in 22nd place with a market value of €3.5 million.
