Celtic star wanted by EPL clubs beats Salah and Vinicius as Yamal can't get near Hoops ace's stunning stat
The 24-year-old has recently been described as one of the most important players in Celtic’s team
Nicolas Kuhn inspired Celtic to one of their best European wins in their recent times with a stunning brace against German title hopefuls RB Leipzig.
The 24-year-old winger, who was once on the books at RB Leipzig, scored in the 35th and 45th minute to turn the game on its head on the stroke of half-time after an early opener from Christoph Baumgartner and was a constant threat throughout the match.
After the 3-1 victory, ex-Hoops hero Aidan McGeady has referred to him ‘the outstanding player in Scottish football this season.’ Kuhn took time to settle in Scotland after his £3m arrival from Rapid Vienna in the January transfer window and at times former team-mate Joe Hart claimed the winger was ‘second guessing himself’ but the three-time title winner now believes that Kuhn is proving that he looks ‘right at home’ on Europe’s biggest stage.
The former German U20s winger, who has emerged as a potential target for a number of Premier League clubs including Brentford according to reports this week, has been directly involved in 19 goals (nine goals, 10 assists) for Celtic in all competitions this season - at least seven more than any of his team-mates.
His output in the Scottish Premiership, League Cup and in the Champions League currently makes him the fourth most productive player in world football this season - level with Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski and ahead of modern day greats of the game such as Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, Manchester City marksman Erling Haaland, Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal and even Ballon d’Or nominee Vinicius Jnr.
Only Eintracht Frankfurt Omar Marmoush, who is currently competing in the Europa League, and Bayern Munich talisman Harry Kane boast more goal contributions than Kuhn since the start of the 2024/25 season.
Kuhn’s brace against RB Leipzig also crucially makes him the first Hoops player to score two goals in the first half of a Champions League game since club icon Roy Aitken in 1979.
The winger has been a catalyst for Brendan Rodgers’ sides sensational start to the season, which has seen the team lose just one of their opening 13 games.
