Rangers ace set to leave in winter on one condition and enters 'frustration' stage of five-part transfer cycle
One Rangers star has been tipped as a possible January exit candidate.
A Rangers star has been discussed as one possible option to leave the club this January window.
Derek McInnes’ side have reached the Premier Sports Cup final with victory over Aberdeen at the weekend. They also have eyes on Premiership glory and the winter transfer period will be a chance to bolster their ranks for that quest. It will also provide opportunity for stars seeking game time to assess their options elsewhere.
Winger Curtis has come onto the scene at Ibrox in 2026 after a loan to Kilmarnock earned World Cup placement with Scotland. He has been a first team player around manager McInnes’ ranks this term but starts haven’t been plentiful. Now transfer journalist Pete O’Rourke writes that a move could beckon in the next few months.
Who could leave Rangers in January?
He said via Football Insider: “Findlay Curtis is set to leave Rangers on loan in the new year if he continues to struggle to break into their starting eleven, sources have told Football Insider. Curtis thrust himself into Rangers first-team contention ahead of this season after some superb performances on loan at Kilmarnock.
He enjoyed regular minutes in the first few weeks of this season under Derek McInnes, but has struggled to feature since the last international break. Curtis will push to leave Ibrox on loan once more in January if nothing changes. His form needs to improve if he wants to keep his place in the Scotland squad, while other Premiership sides are sure to be interested in a loan move if the opportunity arises in January.”
Keith Wyness, a former CEO for clubs like Aberdeen and Aston Villa has also been assessing the situation. He insists Curtis is in the midst of a five-stage cycle that ultimately ends at January with a move on the cards. Wyness, now a consultant for clubs, said to The Inside Track: “It's a difficult one, isn't it?

Why would Findlay Curtis leave Rangers?
“To me, it seems like it's a bit of a five-month process when it comes to these young players and the second month for this sort of frustration.
“The third month you start to see agents having discussions behind the scenes with the club, and then the fifth month he could be gone, and that fifth month could be January. We don't know what's going on in training; we don't know why he's dropped off in terms of his appearances and his minutes. You just never know with young players as to what really is going on. Is it mental? Is it physical?
“Only the manager internally can really understand and know what's going on. And that's his job to do that. But as I say, if it is just the case of him not being in favour, that five-month clock is ticking right now.”
