Frank Lampard turns Celtic rival over star who could break records on two fronts as Hoops 'priority' emerges

The Coventry City boss will reportedly fight with Celtic in the summer transfer window.

Celtic are set to go head to head with Frank Lampard and Coventry City over a summer transfer target.

The Sky Blues are heading to the Premier League after winning the Championship under the Chelsea legend. They will be seeking reinforcement and one star linked is Oskar Wojcik after strong performances in central defence at Cracovia. They are not the only club in the mix as Celtic are said to have made him on target for one of their priority positions this summer.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has been out long-term and Benjamin Arthur’s loan from Brentford will end at the end of this season. Stephen Welsh and Maik Nawrocki have spent this season out on loan from Celtic and defensive cover will now be sought. However, if they want to shop in Poland, they’ll have Lampard and others for company.

Who is Oskar Wojcik?

It’s stated in Goal: “Oskar Wojcik is one of the revelations of this season's Ekstraklasa. The Cracovia defender has attracted the attention of major clubs with his excellent performances, and it's possible he'll leave this summer. Goal.pl has learned the names of the clubs that have taken notice of him.

“Oskar Wojcik is a prime example of how quickly things can change in football. Before the season started, he was expected to be benched at Cracovia and didn't rule out going on loan, but Luka Elsner led him brilliantly, and Wojcik became one of the league's top defenders.

“It's safe to say that rapid progress translates into a rapid increase in interest, as for several months now, there have been rumours that foreign clubs have also taken notice of the talented defender's progress. The website seksyki.pl reported, for example, that Danish side Brondby were interested in Wójcik. However, the transfer never materialised.

Who do Celtic want to sign this summer?

“So who's been keeping an eye on him? According to our information, three Serie A clubs have recently entered the fray: Torino, Fiorentina, and Bologna. But that's not all. As we're told, the name "Wojcik" appears on the books of several Championship clubs, with Coventry, a club that has already secured promotion to the Premier League after 25 years under Frank Lampard, reportedly showing particular interest.

“According to our information, Celtic Glasgow were courting Wojcik until the final days of the winter transfer window! The Scots offered over €4 million. At that time, for various reasons the deal wasn't finalised. And what about the potential price? There had already been speculation that Cracovia might be asking around €5 million for Wojcik.

“As for Celtic, the Scottish giants are still looking to strengthen their central defence. Signing a defender is expected to be a priority in the summer transfer window. It's possible that Cracovia could break two records by selling Wojcik. The first is their club record, which is €5 million, the price for which Bartosz Kapustka left for Leicester. The second is a record for a defender in the Polish league. Currently, the most expensive defender sold from the Ekstraklasa is Jan Ziółkowski, who left Legia Warsaw for AS Roma for €6.6 million.”
