McTear’s are set to put Bertie Auld’s personal collection of football jerseys and programmes under the hammer with many of them pinpointing the Celtic hero’s career.
The public will be able to view the collection from Monday 10 October at 9am with the auction taking place two days later at 10.30 as a nod to Auld’s nickname.

5. S.L. Benfica
Celtic went up against Benfica in the European Cup second round in 1969. After a thrilling first leg match which finished 3-0 to the Scottish champions, the Portuguese outfit repeated the scoreline in Lisbon with the match being decided by a coin toss. This jersey is believed to have been worn by Artur Jorge. | McTear’s Auctioneers

6. Leeds United
Celtic came up against English champions Leeds United during the Battle of Britain in 1970. Celtic came out on top to book their place in the European Cup final after a 3-1 aggregate win. Auld swapped his jersey with fellow midfielder Billy Bremner during the second leg which Bremner scored an absolute rocket in. | McTear’s Auctioneers

7. Feyenoord
This jersey is believed to be worn by Rinus Israel. Originally thought to be a match worn shirt from the 1970 European Cup final victory over Celtic, the Bukta label suggests this is a 1969/70 season shirt (Le Coq Sportif worn in the 1970 cup final). The shirt was swapped with Bertie Auld and it is therefore possible the player retained his Le Coq shirt, and gave Auld a season shirt. | McTear’s Auctioneers

8. Scotland
During his career, Bertie Auld picked up few international caps with this jersey, worn during his first Scotland match against the Netherlands. Although Scotland came out on top, the victory was marred as Auld saw red to become the first Scottish international player to be sent off. | McTear’s Auctioneers
