Rampant Celtic head for Rugby Park to face Kilmarnock on Sunday afternoon as they look to round off another brilliant week with a victory that would see Brendan Rodgers’ men reclaim top spot in the Premiership table.
With closest challengers Aberdeen bouncing back from their resounding 6-0 League Cup semi-final defeat to the Hoops by thrashing Dundee 4-1 at Pittodrie on Saturday, the Parkhead side start the day in second place.
The Scottish champions backed up their emphatic cup triumph last weekend when they swept past high-flying Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig 3-1 on Tuesday night - a result that has boosted their chances of reaching the knockout stages of the competition.
Another win in Ayrshire would ensure Celtic head into the final international break of the year sitting top of the pile and Rodgers’ side will be full of confidence having scored three or more goals in three of their last four games in all competitions.
In contrast, Kilmarnock shipped three goals away at Dundee last week, so manager Derek McInnes will know they must tighten up defensively to keep a clean sheet against the title holders.
