It will be Thistle's first league game following their enforced relegation from the Championship - and the first league meeting between the sides since 2009.

The two did clash last season in a Betfred Cup group encounter at Firhill, which Thistle won 3-2.

Clyde and Thistle were involved in Glasgow derby clashes for many years, until the Bully Wee left their Shawfield base in 1986, and are still regarded by many Clyde fans as the club's derby rivals.

Adding spice to the occasion will be the fact that Clyde boss Danny Lennon, a former Thistle skipper, was a target for the club to replace Gary Caldwell last year but instead extended his contract with the Bully Wee.

The return fixture between the sides at Firhill will be part of the festive programme, on Saturday, January 2, while the third meeting at Broadwood will be on April 3.

Clyde's other festive game is a North Lanarkshire derby at home to Airdrie on Boxing Day, while Thistle are away to potential title rivals Falkirk.
