Kevin McGoldrick, former assistant manager at Stenhousemuir, has been head-hunted for a new job in China developing players for the Etihad Stadium side.

McGoldrick, who worked alongside David Irons and Martyn Corrigan at Ochilview, has been working with the SFA as a club coach officer for the past two years.

That role has involved working in partnership with grassroots level clubs, focussing on player development and mentoring coaches as well as being a Coach Education Programme assessor.

But he now has the chance to move to the other side of the world - an opportunity which, literally, has come out of the blue.

McGoldrick said: “I was contacted a few weeks ago to see if I would be interested in working full time with Manchester City.

“I was then told the job would be overseas developing young talent and it looks like the posting could be in China. It is a programme that sounds really interesting.”
