The Donate a Ticket campaign was launched by Raith Rovers fan Ruaridh Kilgour to encourage fans of all Scottish clubs to donate the price of a match ticket during the current shutdown.

And the latest ‘league table’ of support on the Donate a Tickert website has Petershill-based City sitting in second place, with only Raith Rovers ahead of them.

City club manager Laura Montgomery said: “We are delighted to be involved with the Donate a Ticket campaign.

Glasgow City, like most businesses, are finding these times challenging. Our core income comes from sponsorship, which of course is activated when we can play football and from matches, most importantly our European matches.

“Our Champions League quarter final match in March was a large part of our budget planning for this year and of course that has not taken place.

“The Donate a Ticket website, allows those supporters who can and want to, to find a way to still support the club. We had a few supporters come towards us before the site was launched to ask how they could help the club, so when Donate a Ticket was highlighted to me, this seemed like the perfect way for supporters to do this.”

Meanwhile the story of Glasgow City and its founders has been told in a new documentary.

“Na Boireannaich a Thog Glasgow City” was broadcast on BBC Alba last week and is now available on BBC iPlayer.
