Motherwell FC: Classic new home strip based on gear worn in glorious 3-0 win over Hibs in 1950 League Cup final

Motherwell’s new home kit for season 2020/21 (modelled in this picture by current players Tony Watt, Liam Donnelly and Liam Polworth) is based on the strip worn by the League Cup winning Motherwell side of 1950.

It’s almost 70 years on from that glorious triumph, when goals by Jim Forrest, Archie Kelly and Willie Watters gave the Steelmen a 3-0 success over Hibs in front of 64,074 spectators at Hampden Park.

The 2020 version of the classic kit sees the claret band extend onto the sleeves, with flashes of white on the collar and sleeves going with the white shorts.

A shirt sponsor is to be confirmed soon, with the strips now available to pre-order online at motherwellfc.co.uk
