Motherwell FC to end league season at home to Ross County on May 16 as post split fixtures announced

Motherwell FC’s Scottish Premiership post split fixtures (KOs 3pm unless stated), which were announced on Monday, are: Saturday, April 10 – St Mirren (home); Wednesday, April 21 – Hamilton Accies (away), 7.45pm; Saturday, May 1 – Kilmarnock (home); Wednesday, May 12 – Dundee United (away), 7.45pm; Sunday, May 16 – Ross County (home), 12 noon.

Motherwell will go into the league split in ninth place, with work still to be done to ensure they will again be a Scottish Premiership club next season.

But the Steelmen, whose impressive top flight run dates way back to 1985, look a good bet to preserve their Premiership status.

They sit six points ahead of 10th placed Ross County, seven ahead of second bottom Killie and eight clear of bottom dogs Hamilton Accies.

Of Motherwell’s remaining fixtures, fans will likely be particularly keen that they get a positive result at Lanarkshire rivals Hamilton on April 21.

Despite currently being bottom of the table, Accies have beaten ’Well in all three meetings between the sides this season and a fourth defeat would be incredibly hard to stomach.
