’Well are down in 10th place after two defeats to open the 2020-21 campaign, with former Fir Park ace Mark Reynolds scoring for United in the second half before the hosts’ Jordan White controversially had a late headed ‘goal’ ruled out for an alleged push.

Ex-Wolves ace Seedorf (22) told the Times and Speaker: “To be honest I didn’t see any foul in that challenge but that is football, it happens and we just keep moving onto the next one.

“I don’t know what happened, I don’t know what he (referee Steven McLean) saw there. There was probably something different in his eyes. It was a difficult day but we keep going.

“We had so much of the ball, we kept pushing and pushing but unfortunately it just didn’t work out.

“We just need to keep doing what we’re doing, play our game and the wins will come definitely.

“We’ve got the positive mentality and just keep everything positive until the next game.

“We’ll go with the same hunger and the same mentality but we need to finish our chances.”

With coronavirus restrictions meaning there are currently no crowds at matches, Fir Park was eerily quiet throughout the United game and that will remain the case at all matches for the foreseeable future.

Suriname-born Seedorf added: “There’s no crowd around but it’s football at the end of the day.

“What happens happens. But we are pushing ourselves to go through the situation and keep positive.

“They (United) had the same thing, it was the same for both sides."

Motherwell’s third league fixture of the season comes at home to Livingston this Wednesday night.

The 11th placed Lions have also been defeated in their two Premiership outings so far.

“It’s definitely a massive game,” Seedorf said.

“We are training hard and we’ll play our game.

“We’re not even looking at what they (Livingston) are doing, keep attacking.

“I’m really looking forward to it.”

The Steelmen will follow the Livingston game up with an away fixture at early league leaders Hibernian this Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

Monday’s Europa League draw saw Motherwell land a one off fixture against on Thursday, August 27 and it’s a game Seedorf is looking forward to.

“We are definitely deperate to improve for that game,” he added. “It’s really nice. It’s a big test again.

“But our main focus is on the league and getting higher up the table.”

From a journalistic point of view, covering the United game during the current pandemic was an unusual experience.

Social distancing meant reporters viewed the game from a supporters’ seat in the Phil O’Donnell Stand while wearing a mask, with post game interviews conducted in the stand or pitchside as the press room is closed.
