Rob Roy, playing at their temporary home Guys Meadow for the first time, got off to a losing start going down to Rossvale despite having pulled themselves back from a two goal half-time deficit.

First chance fell to Rossvale in the third minute but former Rabs player Fraser Team sent his hurried shot past the post.

Minutes later Rabs squandered an opportunity to take the lead when O’Halloran headed an Urquhart cross wide when in a good position.

Vale were showing up well on the attack and Rob Roy keeper Brown did well to save a Winters net-bound effort.

In the 20th minute Rossvale took a deserved lead when the Rabs defence failed to cut out a cross from the right leaving Winters time and space to pick his spot.

The experienced Winters was controlling the flow of the game for Vale and it was fitting that he grabbed his side’s second goal after Brown spilled a cross presenting him with a chance to sweep the ball home from close range.

Vale almost made it three a few minutes later with Team sending a free-kick narrowly over the bar from the edge of the penalty box.

Before the half-time break Rabs responded with Aitken heading a perfect McMenamin cross over the bar before McMenamin’s free-kick was blocked.

Rabs pulled a goal back a minute into the second half. Aitken’s shot was deflected over the bar, McMenamin sent over an in-swinging corner kick and it was met by Rossvale defender Walker who lashed the ball into his own net.

At the other end Team brought out a stunning save from Brown.

Rabs half-time substitute Duff brought more urgency to the attack, sending a drive inches wide then firing just over the bar.

Vale always looked dangerous on the break with both Winters then Nisanju coming close for the visitors.

Rob Roy were denied a stonewall penalty in the 75th minute when Duff was blatantly pulled down inside the box.

In the final stages Rabs were very much in command but their finishing was poor.

With a minute remaining they were thrown a lifeline when the Rossvale keeper dropped a cross allowing Duff to scramble the ball over the line for the equaliser.

The drama didn’t end there, however. Minutes into stoppage time a long ball was played forward to the strong running Nisanju to send a low drive into the corner of Brown’s net for the Rossvale winner.
