‘Lok bounce back

Pollok bounced back from the disappointment of the previous week’s defeat to Shettleston with a comfortable 4-0 win over Cumbernauld United at Newlandsfield Park.

Pollok opened the scoring in the 38th minute when Tam Hanlon’s corner was spilled by Cumbernauld’s trialist goalkeeper into the path of Gary Wild who lashed the ball into the net.

The ‘Lok doubled their lead in the 44th minute when a short corner routine saw Finlay Frye’s effort blocked and subsequently break
into the path of John
Sweeney, who placed a composed finish through a crowd of bodies and past the unsighted ‘keeper.

Sweeney secured his brace six minutes after the
restart.

The visiting rearguard again failed to deal with a corner allowing the midfielder time to turn in the six-yard box and blast home.

The afternoon’s scoring was completed in the 85th minute.

Substitute Jamie Barclay, who had been on the field for barely over a minute, sent a glancing header from a
Kieran McAleenan free-kick past the stranded United ‘keeper.

Pollok continue their league campaign this Saturday when they travel down
to Maybole’s Ladywell Stadium.

Kick off for this match is at 2pm.
