Motherwell boss Robbo warns that Aberdeen or Killie will be tough Scottish Cup semi-final test

The Steelmen have been drawn to play Aberdeen or Kilmarnock at Hampden on Saturday, April 14, with Glasgow giants Celtic and Rangers squaring off in the second semi in Mount Florida a day later.

"When you get to the semi-finals of the cup there are four teams in the competition which are decent," Robinson said.

"The best four teams. So to win the cup you're going to have to beat them somewhere along the line.

"Yes, people might see it as a bigger opportunity, but Killie are on a fantastic run and Aberdeen are a very good side as well so there's no easy games unfortunately."

Robinson also said it was "less and less likely" that 'Well would sign a free transfer any time soon.

He added: "There's not many people out there that I feel are better than what we have.

"I'm not bringing people in just to make numbers up. We've got some very good young kids.

"David Turnbull's been away with Scotland, Barry Maguire is on the bench now on a regular basis with us.

"We've got Chris Cadden and Allan Campbell in the team. We've got young James Scott as well.

"So we won't bring people in to hold our young boys back, no."

Robbo - who said that the "outstanding" Richard Tait deserves a Scotland international call-up - also revealed that midfielder Liam Grimshaw will miss this weekend's Scottish Premiership trip to local rivals Hamilton Accies, while striker George Newell is "touch and go" after going over on his ankle on Wednesday.
