Not good enough says Clyde boss Ferguson

Ferguson kept his players in the dressing room at full-time after Queen’s Park left Broadwood with the points following their 2-0 win.

And he told his players that their failure to maintain the momentum of a promising first half display in their first home League Two game of the season simply wasn’t good enough.

He said: “For 35 minutes we were a different class and then I’ve gone and kept them in the dressing room for 20 minutes there.

“That second half was unacceptable, but they know it, and they’ve been told.

“We dominated the first half, even if Queen’s Park came in a touch towards the end of it.

“We were light years ahead of them in the first half but that wasn’t my team out there in the second half.

“In the first half we were so far on top and we should have been two or three goals up, I said to them at half-time you’ve got to keep it up but I just thought the second half was flat.”

Ferguson found an ally in Queen’s boss Gus MacPherson who admitted his side had to dig in after Clyde dominated the earlier part of the match.

He said: “We’re delighted, I don’t think many teams are going to come here and win. It was a tough game for us, especially in the first half, but we ground it out.”

The defeat was a disappoinment for the title favourites following their opening day win at Stirling Albion and Clyde will look to pick themselves up for Saturday’s trip to Montrose.

Meanwhile Clyde are to let under-16 supporters in to watch their home games at Broadwood this season free of charge.

The scheme was launched last week and began with Saturday’s match.

The offer applies to all under-16s accompanied by an adult, up to four per group. Tickets for free under-16 entry should be collected from the Clyde Office - located at South end of the Main Stand - at each match.
