Some free agents remain on the market for Rangers amid rumours around an ex-star.

Rangers have been left with questions to answer but can any be found in free agency?

Rumours have been rife the past week after Ryan Kent’s Fenerbahce contract was ripped up. The winger is available on a free transfer and having shone for parts of his first spell at Ibrox, it’s sparked talk of Rangers making a move.

Philippe Clement has already addressed the talk by saying he won’t get into rumours. A 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock where attacking spark was at a minimum will no doubt reignite talk about Kent’s availability, with attackers being asked the question of whether they are up to the challenges and standard required in Govan.

If Kent isn’t to come off the free agency pile though in the attack third for Rangers, who could? We look at five alternate attacking free agents Clement and co could consider ahead of the former Liverpool winger.

Samu Castillejo

Winger has been without a club since parting ways with Valencia. Had a stop-start time at Sassuolo last season but has undoubted experience at the highest level, with over 100 appearances for Villarreal and AC Milan.

Samuel Kalu

Released by Watford in the summer and yet to find a new club. Played mainly on the right flank but has been used on the left. Clement was Genk manager in the 17/18 season, when Kalu had a strong season of six goals and eight assists with Belgian rivals Gent.

Alireza Jahanbakhsh

31 now, so perhaps not one for the long-term. But with over 180 appearances in the Dutch top flight and 50 in England, Jahanbakhsh is a known quantity. Last term was tough but get him back to the levels of 22/23 - where he scored eight goals and 10 assists with Feyenoord - he’d be a worthwhile option even for say 18 months.

Mariano Diaz

Not an out and out winger by any means but even through the middle, criticisms of the likes of Cyriel Dessers has been there. If firepower is what they are after, bringing in a man of lengthy association at Real Madrid may go down a treat. Yes, goals haven’t been in frequent supply as a periphery figure much of his career but caught fire at Lyon when handed the leading man role with 21 goals and six assists in a campaign.

Maxi Gomez

Experienced international has been without a club after severing ties with Trabzonspor in Turkey - who have ex-Rangers pair John Lundstram and Borna Barisic in their ranks. An experienced international with Uruguay but mainly a player who has played through the middle. Contributed to goals effectively with Valencia and Celta Vigo in Spain/
