With the January transfer window well underway, Celtic and Rangers will be jostling for position in the transfer market to see who can secure the best deals. Who are the two Glasgow clubs linked with today?

An international club has reportedly registered its interest in a Gers striker. Having only scored five SPFL goals this season and with his contract up in the summer, will Rangers look to cash in on his services?

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that a Celtic loanee will remain away from the club for the remainder of the 2022/23 season. The Celts already have plenty of quality centre backs at the club - as such, it may be a good move for both the club and the player.

Tigres interested in Alfredo Morelos

Mexican club Tigres have reportedly shown an interest in Rangers’ talismanic centre forward, Alfredo Morelos (per the Daily Record). Tigres are looking to provide competition for veteran striker Andre-Pierre Gignac, who has been at the club since 2015. Having reportedly failed to materialise a move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Rafael Santos Borre, Morelos is their next choice.

Morelos has struggled to find form this season for the Gers. With just five goals and two assists across 17 games, coupled with the fact that his contract expires in the summer, it isn’t too far fetched to imagine that Rangers make look to cash in on the Columbian.

Liam Scales to remain at Aberdeen

Liam Scales has been on loan at Aberdeen since the start of the season - according to Dons boss Jim Goodwin, he’s set to remain at the Pittodrie Stadium until the campaign concludes (per The Scotsman). He’s been an Aberdeen mainstay this season in the league, starting in 17 of their 20 games in the SPFL.

Goodwin spoke on Celtic allowing Liam Scales to remain at Aberdeen. He said: “There is no break clause in Hayden’s loan so he is with us. Celtic have assured us that Liam Scales will be staying beyond the window.”
