English pundit jumps to defence of Rangers after 'pathetic' criticism as he battles draw fury head-on

There’s been a defence of Rangers amid another poor result.

An English pundit has jumped to Rangers’ aide after more dropped points for Philippe Clement’s side.

The Light Blues drew 1-1 at home with Dundee United in the Premiership on Saturday. Sam Dalby had struck in the first half to strike fear that Rangers would suffer a costly defeat amid pressure on manager Clement, but Vaclav Cerny scored in the second half to salvage a point, but fans are still furious over domestic form at large.

Aberdeen lost in Paisley to St Mirren, which means the gap between Rangers in third and the second-placed Dons is now eight points. But a win for Celtic over Hearts means the Ibrox club trail their bitter rivals by 11 points before the end of November.

Hoops legend Chris Sutton was talking about the game with former Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers player Robbie Savage. Both has differing views on how the point was being analysed, with the ex-Celtic striker scathing in his verdict and his radio co-host taking an opposing view.

Sutton said on said on BBC’s 606: “We are not even in December – 11 points behind Celtic. It looked to me like a lot of the Rangers fans could not be bothered to go and watch their team.

“It was a pathetic draw against Dundee United yesterday for Rangers. Is it time up for Philippe Clement?”

Savage wasn’t having the harsh nature of the Celtic legend’s tone. He responded: “What do you mean a pathetic draw? Are Dundee United not very good? Are they bottom? They are fourth – it’s third vs fourth.”
