Star that Rangers released has £5m price tag slapped on, Wilfried Nancy earns major Celtic comparison
Rangers and Celtic have both been in Scottish Premiership action over the weekend
Rangers won 1-0 at home to Motherwell over the weekend. Thelo Aasgaard scored their winner at Ibrox as they secured all three points. Next up for the Gers is another game on their own patch against St Mirren on Tuesday evening.

As for Celtic, they won 4-2 away at Livingston. Benjamin Nygren was on the scoresheet twice, whilst Yang Hyun-Jun and Arne Engels also found the net. The Hoops are only three points behind Hearts at the summit now with a game in-hand.
Former Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos slapped with £5million price tag
Santos have slapped a £5million price tag on former Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, as per The Scottish Sun. He has been on the books of the Brazilian outfit since joining them back in 2023. The forward has scored four goals in 20 games for them to date.
The Colombia international, who has 11 caps to his name, has been loaned out to Atletico Nacional over recent times to get some more game time. He bagged 32 goals in 92 matches during his time in his native country. The player is now back in Brazil though and his future is up in the air.
Rangers landed Morelos back in 2017 to bolster their attacking department. Prior to his switch to Glasgow, the Independiente Medellin academy graduate caught the eye playing in Finland for HJK. He went on to fire 124 goals in 269 outings during his spell in Scotland before heading back to South America.
Celtic team compared to Tommy Burns’ team
Pat Bonner has compared Celtic under Wilfried Nancy to Tommy Burns’ team of 1996. The former Hoops goalkeeper believes the all-action attacking style of play in similar to Burns’ old side. Nancy’s men scored all four of their goals against Livingston in the first half.
Bonner has said, as per BBC Radio Scotland: “I was trying to think there a wee while ago, this team, who does it compare to? I think probably the closest I could get is under Tommy Burns when he had the four, [Pierre] van Hooijdonk, he had [Paulo] Di Canio, he had [Jorge] Cadete, he had [Andy] Thom, all playing in the same team, almost doing all the attacking side, but not getting involved at all in the defensive side.
“There was always, sometimes only four defenders. But very, very entertaining, brilliant to watch, but always vulnerable to ship goals.”
Celtic took a gamble by appointing Nancy as their permanent replacement for Martin O’Neill. He did well in MLS at both CF Montreal and Colombus Crew but he lost his first four matches in charge of the Hoops. Nevertheless, he has won his last two outings against Aberdeen and Livingston.
Pressure has started to ease off the Frenchman after their two wins on the spin. He will get the opportunity to bring in some new faces in the upcoming January transfer window and put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad. In addition, Nancy will also get chance to sell some players.
