Rangers forgotten man departs the club as 'significant sell-on fee' attached to six-figure deal
Defender hasn’t appeared in Rangers colours since January
Rangers have reportedly received a £300,000 fee for forgotten defender Clinton Nsiala, with a ‘significant sell-on fee’ attached.
Following a summer if transfer speculation, the 22-year old has now completed his move to UAE top flight side Sharjah FC, where he’s signed on a two-year deal. Despite the Scottish transfer market closing earlier this month, UAE Pro League sides still have up until September 28 to do business.
Since Rangers signed the Frenchman from AC Milan in 2024, he’s accrued 17 appearances, never fully establishing himself in the first team. His last outing for the Light Blues came in January during a 5-0 Scottish Cup victory over Annan Athletic. He was subsequently sent out on loan to Belgian side Westerlo for the rest of the season.

Nsiala leaves Rangers for UAE
The Rangers Review confirmed: “Rangers have banked a fee of £300,000 for out-of-favour defender Clinton Nsiala after he clinched a move to Sharjah FC. The former AC Milan kid was the subject of interest over the course of the summer transfer window and has now brought an end to his time in Glasgow.
“The Rangers Review understands there is also a significant sell-on clause attached to the deal alongside the six-figure transfer fee. Nsiala has put pen-to-paper on a two-year contract to head to the United Arab Emirates. Sharjah FC are currently seventh in the Pro League with nine points from five matches.”
Despite a new managerial era commencing in the summer for Rangers in the form of Derek McInnes, there has been no route for the young central defender back into the first team. In turn, a move elsewhere is mutually beneficial to both the player and club.

Club wish defender all the best in new chapter
One of Nsiala’s 17 appearances came against Kilmarnock in February 2025 amid a defensive injury crisis. As the Gers went 2-0 down early on in a Premiership fixture at Rugby Park, then interim gaffer Barry Ferguson decided to substitute the defender after just 30 minutes. Rangers eventually prevailed 4-2.
As he now embarks on a new challenge, the club were keen to wish him well for the future. A Rangers statement announcing Nsiala’s departure read: “Rangers can today confirm Clinton Nsiala has joined Sharjah FC for an undisclosed fee. The defender joined the club from AC Milan in the summer of 2024 but will now continue his career in the United Arab Emirates. Everyone at Rangers wishes Clinton all the best for the future.”
