Rangers hold three transfer priorities this window as recruitment chiefs locked in 'constant dialogue'
The Light Blues have made six signings and counting
Rangers boss Derek McInnes is reportedly looking to bring in a left-sided centre back, midfielder and winger to the club before the start of the 2026/27 season.
The new gaffer admitted he’s been in ‘constant dialogue’ with club chiefs since his arrival from Hearts last month. McInnes has already oversaw the signings of Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey, Ivor Pandur, Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin, to add to Lawrence Shankland, who arrived prior to his appointment. Despite the early transfer movement, McInnes has made it clear there’s still work to be done in the window.
The squad are currently in Spain at a warm weather training camp preparing for the season ahead. Speaking to the Rangers Review, the former Hearts and Kilmarnock boss also outlined Rangers’ plans to offload a few bodies between now and their season opener against Dundee United on July 31.

McInnes identifies three key areas to strengthen
The same report suggests Rangers are looking for a ‘handful’ of incoming signings in the coming weeks. In midfield, the club remain heavily linked with Tromso star Jens Hjerto-Dahl and Partizan Belgrade captain Vanja Dragojevic. This is clearly an area McInnes has put emphasis on strengthening, having already signed Devlin and Neil, who captained the side in their 1-1 behind closed doors friendly with Kaizer Cheifs on Sunday night.
Rangers boss also told supporters to expect departures. He said: “I think we'd probably look to get a few moving on as well at the same token. But I think we're having good discussions with the recruitment team. We're all kind of singing from the same page really about the areas of the team that we need to strengthen. So probably still a good bit of work to do without putting a number on it. And I think that we're well aware of that.”

Rangers boss lauds recruitment team
The 55-year old has been more than content with the financial-backing he’s received from the club’s hierarchy and admitted he’s in ‘constant dialogue’ with club CEO Jim Gillespie and Technical Director Dan Purdy. He added: “The recruitment team, Dan (Purdy) and his lads, Jim (Gillespie), we're in constant dialogue and conversations to try and get people in.
“Really pleased with the work that's been done. I think everyone deserves some credit for that. But at the same token, it's not enough yet. We've still got work to do and we're well aware that we need to be as ready as we can be. Ideally, we'd be as ready as we could be for the first game proper against Dundee United. But there's not a team in the country who will be as ready as they want to be for that. And the squad that it looks like now, to the squad that it looks like when the window closes, I think will be a wee bit different.”
