Manager responds to Rangers interest in eight-goal ace as Wolves also linked
Rangers are expected to battle Wolves and a number of Championship clubs to sign a top talent
Scottish title hopefuls Rangers have reportedly informed Hibs that they wish to be updated over any potential transfer links involving Kieron Bowie.
The two-time Scottish international came through the academy at Raith Rovers at the age of 16 and showed immense promise before making the move to Fulham in 2020.
He gained experience at Northampton Town during two separate loan spells without ever playing a league game for The Cottagers before returning to Scotland with Hibs in 2024.
The 23-year-old has impressed at Easter Road since moving to the capital and is thought to be on the radar of manager Danny Rohl.
Kieron Bowie emerges as Rangers target
The Herald has revealed that Rangers have asked Hibs to inform them about any transfer developments involving Bowie in January. According to Darren Witcoop, Wolves are one of the leading contenders to sign the forward after their catastrophic start to the league season. While it’s also reported that a number of English Championship clubs are interested in signing the in-form Hibs attacker.
Bowie has a contract until the summer of 2028, meaning Hibs have no immediate need to cash in on the player this month. Hibs sit in fifth position under David Gray and have ambitions of trying to qualify for Europe yet again this term.
Why Bowie is attracting interest from Rangers
Bowie has scored 14 times and contributed five assists in 49 appearances for Hibs. He’s a firm fan favourite at Easter Road and has earned himself a place in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad after a string of consistent displays.
He’s on eight goals and three assists this term already in all competitions, marking his best top-flight campaign to date.
“No, I think naturally, again with the window being open, that's speculation that will always be there,” said Gray when responding to transfer speculation.
“It's a sign of the football club doing well, it's a sign that your players are playing well, your teammates, that it helps you get into these positions.
“And for any player that gets speculation around them, there's nothing you can do about that. It means you're doing something right.
“I think that's something that's great to have, as long as you remember why that's come. It's come because you're playing well, you're working hard, you're part of a successful team. And I don't expect that speculation to go away."
