Rangers secure signing number seven amid the Derek McInnes revolution as new star admires 'winning mentality'
Latest addition fits the criteria the new manager is looking for
Ibrox new boy Vanja Dragojevic claims what attracted him to Rangers from Partizan Belgrade is the club’s ‘winning mentality’ as the Serbian midfielder puts pen to paper on a four-year deal, with the option of a further year.
The 20-year old becomes the seventh signing of the summer transfer window as he joins the list of Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey, Ivor Pandur, Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin. His move is subject to international clearance and a successful visa application. Having been awarded the Partizan captaincy at the age of 19, Dragojevic ticks the boxes for new Rangers boss Derek McInnes, who is looking to enlist leaders all over the pitch.
After coming through the youth ranks at Partizan, the defensive-minded midfielder made his first team debut in 2024. Dragojevic enjoyed a brief loan spell at Serbian second tier side FK Teleoptik however was swiftly recalled by his parent club. Last season, the midfielder made 41 appearances for Partizan wearing the armband. His exploits in black and white were recognised by Serbia National Team boss Veljko Paunovic, who rewarded him with his his first of two international caps against Cape Verde in March.

‘Winning mentality’ enticed Rangers new addition
Upon his arrival Dragojevic told the club: "It feels amazing, and I'm really happy and proud to be part of such a big club like Rangers. It's a big opportunity, and I can't wait to get started. I first heard [the interest] three months ago, and when I heard it I already knew it was very interesting to me because I think the winning mentality that Rangers have is compatible with my mentality."
The Serb will now join his new teammates in their final preparations for the season ahead, which will get officially underway against Dundee United at Tannadice on July 31. Before then, the Light Blues also have their final pre season friendly against West Ham to navigate this Sunday at Ibrox. McInnes is hoping for another couple of bodies in the building before their opener.

What are McInnes’ thoughts on the Dragojevic move?
The Rangers boss added: "We are really excited to bring Vanja on board. He's got huge potential, really exciting attributes, and boasts the character to play in this environment. To captain a club the size of FK Partizan at such a young age tells you everything you need to know about the respect he commands and the leadership qualities he already possesses. I believe he will add a lot to our group, and I look forward to working with him in the years ahead."
As one door opens for the Light Blues, another one closes for Partizan, as they lose a player who has offered them five years of service. To his now former club, Dragojevic added: "Everything I have become as a footballer, I owe largely to Partizan. From the boy who took his first footballing steps in black and white to the captain who had the honour of leading this club – every moment has been special and will remain in my heart forever.”
