Rangers star's exit 'can't' be ruled out as summer transfer verdict delivered
The Gers marksman reflected on a season of frustration personally and collectively
Rangers striker Bojan Miovski ‘can’t rule out’ a possible move away from Ibrox - but is willing to fight for his place in the team next season.
The 26-year old came to Rangers from Girona last summer with a reputation given his impressive numbers at Aberdeen, where he scored 44 goals in 98 appearances. However, after finding himself as second and even third choice striker at times this season, it’s been a frustrating campaign for the North Macedonian. Miovski did however finish Rangers’ third top scorer for the season with 13 goals despite his lack of minutes.
With the new addition of Lawrence Shankland, Miovski now has another striker he’ll need to fight for a place in the starting XI, along with existing target men Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi. In turn, there have been question marks over his future, but he insists he’s ready to fight for his place in the team if he stays.
Miovski on Rangers future
Speaking with Flashscore, the forward said: "I've been lucky enough to be raised well by my parents and to have the mentality to succeed and I always said, the critics should be your food to prove them wrong, not to be the cause of your downfall. I'm ambitious and hungry for success, a person who likes to get out of the comfort zone.
"You can't rule out anything (regarding his future), but I've got a three-year contract with Rangers and would definitely like to feature more prominently next season rather than sit on the bench, as I said, I'm a competitor and would like to play more."
After leaving Pittodrie in 2024, Miovski was unable to continue his form at then-La Liga side Girona, where he was only able to record two league goals in 18 appearances. His form in Spain was a cause for concern when he signed for Rangers, however his exploits in the Granite City prove he has what it takes in the Scottish league, if he can get back up to speed.
Rangers star on Ibrox ‘pressure’
Having never won a trophy in his career to date, Miovski isn’t used to playing in front of a crowd who expect results week in, week out. He is however, relishing the challenge at Ibrox, as he outlines his ambitions not to repeat another trophy-less campaign. He added: “Each and every club has its own ambitions and carries a different kind of pressure.
“At Rangers, we've a massive fan base worldwide. Judging by the rich history and the titles that we've won in the past, the standard is set at a high level, where you're constantly being asked to win silverware. Until now, I haven't played in a club where there is an ambition to fight for a title every season.
"You have huge pressure and finishing second or third is the same as finishing seventh for Rangers. The fans are only interested in the first place and to be honest, that's really how it should be. It's frustrating for everyone at the club that the last league title was won back in 2021, but we're motivated as a squad to give our best and change that.”
