14 Rangers summer transfer in and out candidates including Sunderland star and Swedish defensive pair

Here are some candidates for who could come in and out of Rangers during the summer transfer window

The summer transfer window will officially open for business in just seven days’ time and significant squad movement in and out of Rangers is likely.

The Ibrox club have already completed their first deal of the off-season after moving quickly to snap up red-hot Scotland striker Lawrence Shankland from Premiership rivals Hearts, while a number of other signing targets are being worked on behind the scenes.

Here are 14 candidates from those who could be heading in and out of Rangers over the coming weeks, from a signing off an English Premier League outfit and a Swedish defensive duo.

Luke Graham (INCOMING)

Rangers are understood to be readying a formal offer for the in-demand Dundee centre-back, having watched his progress closely since the turn of the year. Contact is expected to be made with the Dens Park club over the coming days to see if an agreement can be reached for the Scotland under-21 international to make the move. Dundee have already fielded a number of calls regarding Graham’s availability.

Nedim Bajrami (OUTGOING)

Albanian internationally has featured sporadically over the last 12 months and Rangers are unlikely to stand in the attacker’s way should an offer materialise. Doesn’t look to have a future at the club under Danny Rohl.

Hampus Skoglund (INCOMING)

Rangers’ backline could have a distinctly Swedish look about it next term as reports claim the 22-year-old Hammarby right-back is top of Rohl’s wish list to replace long-serving skipper James Tavernier. Valued at around £2m, his parent club are desperate to keep hold of one of their most exciting prospects.

Youssef Chermiti (OUTGOING)

A trio of big European clubs are keeping tabs on the Portuguese striker, who scored 15 goals in his debut season at Ibrox. PSV Eindhoven, Porto and Galatasaray are the three teams in questions, but Rangers have warned any potential suitor that they will need to stump up £25m in order to convince them to carry out business.

Casper Widell (INCOMING)

Talks are expected to ramp up with the 23-year-old centre-back’s representatives after playing every minutes of the Eredivisie season and captaining Dutch outfit Excelsior Rotterdam. It’s understood EFL Championship pair Derby County and Blackburn Rovers are also tacking the player close as he enters the final year of his contract. Excelsior have hinted they would be willing to cash in for a fee in the region of £2-2.5m this summer.

Danilo (OUTGOING)

£6m Brazilian striker has no future at Ibrox and will be allowed to leave again this summer following a loan spell at NEC Nijmegen in the Eredivise during the second half of the season.

Dan Neil (INCOMING)

Allowed to leave Sunderland as a free agent after spending the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich Town, the 24-year-old defensive midfielder is believed to be keen on making the move to Rangers. The Black Cats’ decision not to bring him back into the fold has placed a number of EFL clubs on high alert, but Rangers are firm contenders in the race for his signature.

Bojan Miovski (OUTGOING)

Macedonian striker voiced his frustration at a lack of game time last week while on international duty and with Shankland’s arrival expected to bump his further down the pecking order for a start berth, the former Aberdeen and Girona hitman could look elsewhere in pursuit of regular minutes. He won’t be content at finding himself as third or fourth-choice centre-forward, even if Rohl decides to play with two frontmen.

Pierce Charles (INCOMING)

Rohl is eyeing a potential reunion with the Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper who has been capped 11 times for Northern Ireland. The 20-year-old has interest from the Premier League and overseas clubs, including French outfit RC Strasbourg. The Owls are open to selling one of their main assets after suffering relegation from the Championship, with the shot-stopper stating he isn’t fazed by ongoing speculation over his future.

Jose Cifuentes (OUTGOING)

Midfielder has already been deemed surplus to requirements and won’t be given a chance to resurrect his Ibrox career that failed to get off the ground. Currently on loan at MLS side Toronto FC and both clubs are in discussions about his future destination after the Canadian outfit are opted not to trigger their undisclosed purchase clause.

Elliot Watt (INCOMING)

Valued in the region of £3m by fellow Premiership side Motherwell, Rangers are pursuing the 26-year-old midfielder, who has been touted with a Scotland call-up in the near future. Widely regarded as the best “number six” in the Scottish top-flight this season, Watt has earned widespread praise for his ability to dictate games and Rangers may step up their pursuit to pry another top talent away from a league rival.

Oliver Antman (OUTGOING)

Another player whose debut campaign in Glasgow flattered to deceive. The experienced Finland international arrived on the back of a standout season in the Eredivisie with Go Ahead Eagles, and despite some early signs of promise, has looked bereft of confidence. Injuries have been a factor in an interrupted campaign, and while he is not a player Danny Rohl will actively look to move on, any potential bids may be considered by the club.

Lorent Tolaj (INCOMING)

The transfer saga surrounding the Plymouth Argyle frontman has sparked intense speculation, with Rangers among a host of clubs monitoring the Swiss-born marksman. Boasting an impressive scoring record, Tolaj is highly-sought after and Rangers may need to act promptly with a formal approach if they want to edge in front of other suitors to secure his services.

Jack Butland (OUTGOING)

Contracted until 2027 but has previously been linked with moves away from Rangers and he could easily depart if Rohl decides he wants a new No.1. Unlikely to receive the contract extension he spoke openly about earlier this year, as things stand. Should Rangers’ ramp up their interest in Pierce Charles, that could spell the end of Butland’s time in Govan.
