Rossvale face the biggest game in their short history when they travel to face Ayrshire giants Hurlford United on Saturday.

A place in the last eight of the ETHXEnergy Scottish Junior Cup - the ‘Blue Riband’ competition of the Scottish junior game - is the prize up for grabs.

Rossvale are already in unchartered territory, having made it to the last 16 of the competition for the first time since the club entered the junior ranks in 2011.

But boss Martin Lauchlan knows that if his side are to go further and create another slice of history they will have to overcome one of the top sides in the country.

Lauchlan, who confirmed that the club have signed former Celtic winger Bobby Petta subject to international clearance, He said: “We go into the game as massive underdogs but we’ve got nothing to lose.

“We know it’s going to be a difficult game but we’re going into in a positive frame of mind.

“We’re not going to change the way we play. We’ll have a go and look to take the game to them - if it’s good enough it’s good enough, if it’s not it’s not.

“At the end of the day this is a bonus for is. The league is our priority.”

Hurlford won the trophy in 2014 and are 11/2 second favourites - behind holders Auchinleck Talbot - to do it again this time round.

The Bishopbriggs side have won plaudits for their attacking football this season as they chase a second successive promotion and a place in the Super League.

Saturday’s defeat at the hands of another top Ayrshire side - Cumnock - in the West of Scotland Cup - was their first loss since September 5.

To get to this stage of the competion Rossvale won 2-0 at home to Pumpherston and 5-0 away to Lanark United before thum;ping Stonehaven 6-1 in the last round.

Hurlford have knocked out Fauldhouse United, Falkirk Juniors and Dalkeith Thistle.
