Smart play not enough as Rossvale let Bens off hook

A double from Smart Osadolor looked to have sent Vale on their way to three points but Bens battled back to earn a 2-2 draw.

In the opening minutes both teams just cancelled each other out; the first attempt on goal was in 10 minutes when a shot from a Benburb player was blocked and cleared by Anton McDowall.

On 15 minutes Rossvale had two corners in succession after Connor headed out. Both deliveries were poor and the corners came to nothing.

However Rossvale opened the scoring on 19 minutes. Craig Holmes had a run down the left wing and his low cross was met by Osadolor whose shot was cleared off the line. But the ball landed back at the feet of Holmes, who this time crossed high for Osadolor to make no mistake with a header.

On 32 minutes Rossvale were forced into a substitution when Ryan Spalding replaced Kirk Forbes who pulled up with what looked liked a hamstring injury.

Soon after this the referee produced the first card of the game when Livingston was booked for dissent after conceding a free-kick. Gary Trussler received the ball from the free-kick and fired a shot just over.

Early in the second half Trussler was brought down in the box after turning his marker and Osadolor sent the keeper the wrong way to put Rossvale two up.

Rossvale nearly added to their tally when Osadolor fired a shot inches past the post but the next goal came from Benburb. Substitute Hendry latched on to a pass on the corner of the penalty box and fired high into the net.

With 10 minutes to go Benburb were pressuring Rossvale and a speculative shot was headed in by a Benburb player with the goal allowed to stand despite Rossvale claims for offside.

Next for Rossvale is an away trip to Greenock.
