Twenty-year-old Serbian winger Luka Belic has joined on a six-month loan from English Premier League outfit West Ham United, while striker Ryan Bowman (24) has penned a two-year deal after joining for an undisclosed fee from English National League outfit Gateshead.

Motherwell manager Mark McGhee told the official website: “Luka is a wiry forward player who can play through the middle or on the flanks.

“He works extremely hard, particularly without the ball, and knows where the net is. He’ll give us competition.

“With the arrival of Ryan, it allows us to set up in a 4-3-3 formation, which has brought great success in the past, particularly last season.

“We’ve tracked him for some time now, but today’s developments have allowed us to go and get him.

“He’s been top scorer for his clubs over the last two seasons, he’s big, powerful, good in the air and runs in behind.”

The two new additions followed the departure of winger Johnson to Oxford United for a reported fee of £650,000 – a whopping £620,000 more than ’Well had paid Kidderminster Harriers for his services just 18 months previously.

Johnson posted on Twitter: “Absolutely buzzing to sign for @OUFCOfficial and start my new chapter. I can’t wait to get started.

“Massive thanks to all the fans @MotherwellFC that have supported me for the time I was there. It’s a great club and fans and I wish you all the best.”
