Youngsters shine as Barrhill lose out

Slammanan 2 Barrhill 1

Colley Cup

GOING into this game off a good midweek result, Barrhill should have been looking forward to the fixture.

However, with five players missing, three suspended, two away on holiday and only two subs, they knew it was going to be a hard game.

What they didn’t expect was the performance of the younger lads that were thrown in at the deep end and who were fantastic. O’Neill, Heeps, Byrne and McClean looked like they had played at this level for years.

The local side went one up in the first five minutes. Duffy clipped his free-kick into the box and Heeps fired it high into the top corner.

The referee gave a free-kick against Fulton
and the Slamannan forward put his kick into the top corner to level the scores.

Ten minutes later the home side went ahead following the referee’s decision to allow play to continue even although the ball had clearly crossed the byline.
