FORTH boxing marvel Scott Forrest will be a big hit at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow – according to his proud dad Jimmy.

Jimmy believes that Scott (19), of Longdales – the only Clydesdale-based Games competitor – will romp to a gold medal in the light heavyweight division.

“Scott will need to win five fights to get the gold medal but I’ve bought my ticket for the final already,” Jimmy said.

“I have every confidence in Scott. He’ll have his first Commonwealth Games fight this Friday and I’ve got no doubt he’ll walk through it.

“Scott is superfit and trains six times a week, so the demanding schedule of going far in the Commonwealth Games won’t faze him at all.

“Scott won’t know who he’s fighting in his first contest until tomorrow (Thursday), but he’s seen videos of two possible opponents from India and New Zealand and he reckons he could beat them both in his sleep.”

Scott can’t wait to compete in front of thousands of Commonwealth Games spectators at the SECC; the final on August 2 is at the adjacent SSE Hydro.
