Forth manager still wants summer football

THE vagaries of the Scottish weather were all too apparent again on Monday night, when the first Clydesdale Cup semi-final between Forth Wanderers and Lanark United at Kingshill Park was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

This call-off came just two days after Forth’s scheduled home friendly against Bellshill was put off for the same reason.

Such events at what is supposed to be the height of the Scottish summer might have some football fans scratching their heads and wondering if the old argument about bringing in summer soccer would actually be a good idea after all.

Despite the call-offs, Forth manager Jamie McKenzie said that he would still be in favour of introducing summer football due to the possibility of generating more revenue.
