Glasgow Rocks pay respects to BBL chairman

The Glasgow Rocks and British Basketball League (BBL) were “deeply saddened” by news of the sudden death of chairman Ed Percival.

Ed held the position of BBL chairman for the last two years and had overseen a period of significant growth and improvements in many different aspects of the business.

He was also a big supporter of the women’s game and took on the role of WBBL chairman for the inaugural 2014-15 campaign.

A spokesman said: “Ed was also a valued trustee of the Basketball Foundation and a much loved and admired character who was known throughout the entire British Basketball community, having been involved in the game for many decades.

Our thoughts are with his wife Valerie and his family at this very difficult time.

His wife tweeted: “My devoted husband Ed Percival sadly passed away this morning. I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love.”
