Celebrating success on the greens
Saturday, August 23 was Championship Finals Day and all the finalists enjoyed a great full summer’s day with a well prepared course for all to have a fun and sporting day.
A total of seven finals took place and congratulations to match and handicap convener Alex Burns and his officials for a well organised day followed by an evening presentation.

Hide AdThis season’s championship winners were: Club Champion, Hugh Nelson; entenary Cup, Gordon Eatherington; Committee Cup, Robin Kennedy; Abercrombie Cup, Tom Wilhare; John Love Trophy, David Kennedy; McArthur Doubles, Darren Conway and Tony Wildy; Youth Trophy, Darren Conway.
The club offer compliments to all who qualified for making a memorable season’s finals day.
Palacerigg Golf Club
The Ladies held their inaugural Open Greensome and with a great turnout and good golfing the day was a success.
Mother and daughter Evaline Dunsmore and Sheila Sergenson won the nearest the pin prizes on the sixth and eighth holes and also finished in third place overall.

Hide AdThe scratch prize was won by Mary Stronach of Palacerigg and Lorraine Glyn of West Lothian. The runners up with a 73 were Palacerigg ladies Patricia Pratt and Moira Mitchell, who also had the only two on the day.
The winners were visitors, Jasmine Dorans from Dullatur and Joanne Quinn from Bonnybridge also with a 73 with a better inward half and were presented with the Ellen Byers Cup by Lady Captain, Evelyn Doak.
Team captain Elaine Provan is quietly studying the performance of the ladies on the course before she selects her team for the Bryson Cup, which will be played over three consecutive days (Ryder Cup format) against Dullatur next month.
