THE cold snap on Friday put pay to three junior football games at the weekend - but it was a bad day at the office for Lesmahagow Juniors.

Robert Irving’s men had Junior Cup glory in their sights but lost 1-0 to Yoker in their last 16 match.

The games involving Carluke, Lanark and Forth were all called although there was some news to come from the Kingshill Park side with Chris Lennon left the club to sign for Thorniewood United.

Earlier in the day, Carluke Baptist AFC thrashed local rivals Carluke Hearts 5-1 at John Cumming Stadium to reach the semi-finals of the South of Scotland Cup.

Onto rugby now and Biggar are deep in the National League Division 1 relegation zone after Saturday’s 14-7 home defeat to GHA.

The Hartreemill men are second bottom of the table with 29 points from 17 matches – leaving them four points adrift of third bottom Marr in safety.

However, local rivals Lanark moved out of the BT West Division 3 relegation zone with a fantastic 20-5 win at Loch Lomond.
