Club president Ian Coulston said after last Tuesday’s 1-0 away win against Bannockburn, that a great deal of the credit for the team’s success was down to the organisational ability of manager Paul Marshall and his assistant James Young.

Days earlier the team had also lifted the Scottish Cup, after a magnificent 3-1 win against Craigshill Thistle. The last time Harestanes did the double was back in the 2002-3 season.

Coulston said: “It was quite a week to win the Scottish league and the cup in the space of three days. I believe the last time they did this was in 2003.

“The boys played really well, but I think a lot of the credit goes to the management team of Paul Marshall and his assistant James Young.

“Paul was a player at the club for 12 years and has been the manager for eight. The boys have total respect for him and he has played the right player at the right time.”

Last Wednesday the team played Campsie in another league game and won 3-1 and on Thursday had an inter league cup game, playing Possil, but lost 2-1.

Coulston said: “By the end of the week the boys were absolutely shattered, playing four games in five days.”
