Kirstie Baird wins badminton doubles on injury return

ON her recent return from a hamstring injury after four months out, amazing Auchenheath badminton kid Kirstie Baird retained the Under 14 Scottish Schools National Championship Mixed Doubles title with her partner Adam Hall.

Kirstie (13), of Auchnotroch Farm, and Adam enjoyed a 21-14, 21-15 final victory over Lothian opponents Julie McPherson and Fraser Wright.

"I am over the moon to have won," Kirstie said.

"But I must say that Adam and I were expecting success, as we have great confidence in our ability."

There, she learns traditional school subjects like Maths, English and French, in tandem with badminton and conditioning classes on three and two days a week respectively.
