Lanark swimmers get medals in Peebles

A 16-strong junior Lanark Amateur Swimming Club squad travelled to Peebles for the Peebles ‘Stars of the Future’ Meet.

This year Lanark competed against hosts Peebles, Gala and Hawick/Teviotdale.

In the nine years and under section Millie McArthur, Eva Carragher, Cameron Bruce and Benji Jones won all their 10 events.

The 10-year quartet of Heather Fell, Erin Swan, Sandy Barr and Euan McLeod won eight gold and two silver medals. Caitlyn Hamilton, Niamh Jeffrey, Robbie Davenhill and Johnny Ramage won seven silver and three bronze medals in the 11 years age group.

In the oldest age group Abbigail McArthur, Heather Stevenson, Lewis Campbell and Mark Ford won nine golds and one silver medal.

In the relay section Lanark won seven of the nine relays. The sterling efforts of all the swimmers at Peebles saw Lanark win both the Inter-Club Challenge Trophy and the Relay Challenge Trophy for the third successive year.
