Several key players were back in the squad and the Badgers hoped to make up for the previous Saturday’s disappointing defeat at Strathendrick.

However, it was the visitors who had most of the play and were awarded a penalty after 10 minutes to open the scoring.

After that, play was fairly evenly balanced with Paisley maybe having a slight edge, but there was no further scoring before the break.

Cumbernauld played better in the second half, and were awarded three penalties for various offences, but lady luck had deserted them with two of the penalties striking the wrong side of the uprights and the other going wide.

Paisley rounded off their day with an unconverted try.

With a free weekend coming up, Cumbernauld now have a chance to regroup and plan for the final three games of the season.

Their next game is away to Uddingston on Saturday, April 14,

The following Saturday they travel to Cumnock before completing the season at home to Millbrae on May 5.
