‘lok knock ‘nock out

The much delayed Scottish Junior Cup fourth round tie between Pollok and Cumnock was finally played on Valentine’s Day.

A crowd of 810 turned up at Newlandsfield Park to see the home side advance to the last 16 of the national competition at the expense of their Premier league opposition by a score of 1-0.

The only goal of the game in the 17th minute.

A great piece of skill from Kevin Bradley gave him space to pick Davie Winters out at the back post.

The striker controlling the ball perfectly before lashing a volley past Ally Semple in the Cumnock goal.

Despite Cumnock being a goal behind, it was Pollok who looked more likely to score during the remainder of the match, the visitors best chance arguably coming in the 90th minute when only a perfectly timed last-gasp challenge from Tam Hanlon stopped Nock’s Robert Love from taking the tie to a replay.

Next up for Pollok is a trip to Recreation Park, home of St Andrews United where a place in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Junior Cup will be the reward for the victors.

In other ‘Lok news, four members of the squad have extended their contracts with the club until the end of the 2015-16 season, namely goalkeeper Jordan Longmuir, skipper Paul Gallacher, and the midfield duo of Findlay Frye and John Sweeney.
